  • I tested the PDF Expert, opened a 100MB PDF document to read, and got the smooth reading experience, especially fast scroll down the page, no lagging at all, the content displayed at the moment when I just stopped scrolling. Now I don’t have a larger PDF file, so I don’t know how about the speed of those large documents, that is over a thousand pages.

    Under the editing mode, just double click on the content to edit it directly, including text, color, size etc., and then you can add the content like images.

  • No frozen in work process, pretty good, but it lacks some functions, such as adding page header, page footer and page numbers, OCR, etc. It even does not support the Compress PDF, so I think it can’t be called “expert”, but it is very good at this price.

  • Pros: User-friendly interface, quick PDF opening and page turning, hotkeys available for switching reading mode (Day / Sepia/ Night mode). Meanwhile, it can also combine multiple PDFs, even though the operation is a bit tedious.

    Cons: Currently I met a problem which is likely a bug: sometimes when switching between annotation modes (underline, or highlight, etc), the page will automatically scroll up, and it won’t even stop. During the process, I cannot do other operations, the only I can do is to stop this bug by manually scrolling the PDF progress bar to the first page. It has happened several times. This is pretty annoying.

    PDF Expert 7 (the app for iPhone and iPad) and PDF Expert for Mac are different apps and have to be purchased separately since they were designed for different platforms. The iOS app is a subscription, whereas the app for Mac is a one-time purchase.
    PDF Expert for iOS is a subscription-based product and it is available for $49.99 per year. But there are some features are available for you for free:
    • reading PDFs;
    • annotating PDF text (highlight/strikeout/underline);
    • drawing on PDFs;
    • creating notes and comments;
    • adding shapes in PDFs;
    • creating and editing outlines;
    • working right from the cloud and filling out forms

    Also, it allows users to transfer files between ios device and desktop using Wi-Fi, or send PDF files from Safari to PDF Expert for ios.

    However, to get all the features you will need to have a PRO subscription. Sorry for that.
